This project, completed in the Industrial Design Studio 2 course, focused on designing a portable children’s bicycle. The studio emphasized a hardcore, conceptual approach to product design, pushing the boundaries of traditional bicycle design. The project involved extensive research into key areas such as anthropometrics for appropriate sizing, benchmarking existing products, material and manufacturing processes, bicycle mechanisms, and outdoor activities for children to ensure a design that is both functional and engaging.
Task
My role encompassed the entire design process, from initial research and ideation to 3D modeling and assembly. I designed a novel portable kid’s bicycle, meticulously considering the target user group and their needs. This included creating detailed 3D models of individual components and assembling them into a comprehensive digital prototype, demonstrating the bicycle’s functionality and portability. The project highlighted the iterative design process and the importance of user-centered design in creating a successful product.
